- Lansing, MI, July 2, 2010: Coalition, Lugnuts, Common Ground, and local businesses encourage low-risk drinking
The Ingham Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition unveils the Domino Strategy for Responsible Alcohol Use, a series of low-risk alcohol consumption guidelines.
The Ingham Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition (ISAP) is proud to collaborate with the Lansing Lugnuts, the Common Ground Music Festival and local downtown Lansing businesses to promote healthy, family-friendly fun during the summer season. Starting the Fourth of July weekend through the Common Ground Music Festival, ISAP will introduce the Domino Strategy for Responsible Alcohol Use, a series of low-risk alcohol consumption guidelines.
The Domino Strategy encourages no more than two standard drinks per day for men, one standard drink per day for women, and zero drinks per day for anyone under the age of 21, pregnant, trying to get pregnant, operating a vehicle, or those recovering from substance abuse or using certain medications. A standard drink is measured as one 12 ounce beer, 5 ounces of wine, or 1.5 ounces of hard liquor. Table tents with the guidelines are on display at downtown Lansing establishments including The Nuthouse Sports Grill, Brannigan Brothers, the Downtown Doghouse, the Tin Can, The Exchange, Omar’s, The Wild Beaver Saloon, The Firm, and the Capitol City Grille located in the Radisson Hotel. The Common Ground Music Festival, which runs July 12th to the 18th, is operated by the Lansing Entertainment and Public Facilities Authority (LEPFA). LEPFA has committed to training staff and volunteers to encourage low risk drinking and discourage over-service of alcohol. The Lansing Lugnuts operation is in its second year of using the Domino Strategy materials at Cooley Law School stadium.
